Founded in 2011, Lind has a multi-faceted investment strategy: direct investments of new capital ($1 to $15 million initial investment); participation in syndicated equity placements; and on-market trades. Lind has completed over 70 direct investments for more than $850 million in total value and has an established reputation as a flexible and supportive capital partner to investee companies.

The Lind Senior Team

Jeffrey L. Easton | Founder, Managing Director

Jeffrey L. Easton is the founder and Managing Director of The Lind Partners. He has over 15 years of experience in the funds management business. In 2009, Jeff co-founded SpringTree Global Investors, a New York-based institutional investment firm. He has since been instrumental in developing and implementing an institutional investment platform that has made investments across a wide range of industries including biotechnology, healthcare, oil & gas, coal and other natural resources. Prior to SpringTree, Jeff was the founding partner of Broad Street Capital, a boutique hedge fund designed to take advantage of market volatility while investing in small capitalization companies. Prior to that, he was an independent trader in small to micro-cap equities utilizing the Broadway Trading’s platform. While there, he also financed, mentored and directed his own successful trading group. Jeff is an active angel investor in several successful ventures including Axioma and Kickstarter and has been featured in several media publications including a cover story in the Wall Street Journal. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.

Phillip Valliere | Partner, Managing Director

Phillip Valliere is a Partner and Managing Director at The Lind Partners, since inception. He has over 25 years of asset management and investment banking experience. Prior to Lind, he was an Executive Vice President at SpringTree Global Investors, an institutional investment firm that preceded Lind. From 2003 to 2009, he was Vice President at a New York hedge fund which he helped grow from $100 million to $2.2 billion AUM, at its peak. During his tenure, he led the oil & gas group and invested more than $500 million into growth-oriented companies in the US, UK and Canada utilizing equity, convertibles, mezzanine and senior debt. From 1997 to 2003, Phillip was an investment banker at Benedetto, Gartland & Co., a New York boutique investment bank founded in 1988 by former Kidder Peabody senior executives, where he executed M&A, strategic advisory, restructuring and private capital fundraising on behalf of middle-market and Fortune 500 clients. Phillip earned a BS in Business Administration (Finance Concentration) from the University of New Hampshire in 1995 and has professional continuing education certificates in mining economics and petroleum engineering.

Sam Chun, CFA | Chief Operating Officer

Sam Chun is Chief Operating Officer at the Lind Partners. Prior to Lind, she was an investment analyst at Springtree Global Investors, LLC, a New York based institutional investment firm. Prior to that, she held internship positions at S-Network Global Indexes, LLC, a New York based developer of proprietary and customer indexes, and the Good Bankers, a Tokyo based independent investment advisory firm with a focus on socially responsible investments.

Ms. Chun is a CFA charterholder, and received a B.S. in Finance and Statistics with a minor in East Asian Studies from the NYU Stern School of Business. As a part of undergraduate studies, she attended Peking University in Beijing, China and Dongbei University of Finance and Economics in Dalian, China. Sam speaks fluent Korean along with intermediate Japanese and Mandarin Chinese. 

Hyelin Kim | Chief Financial Officer

Hyelin Kim is Chief Financial Officer at The Lind Partners. She began her career at Lind in 2013 as an analyst working under the Chief Operating Officer. Prior to that, she worked at Simone Development/Hutch Management LLC, a real estate development company, as an accounting assistant to the Controller. At Lind, she is responsible for the financial reporting of the firm and all treasury functions. She also manages the firm’s operations for all aspects of the business, as well as oversees trading operations and investor communications.

Hyelin graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, and speaks Korean.

Advisors

John Hancock | Senior Advisor

John Hancock (LinkedIn) is an Australian National and will consult to The Lind Partners with regard to capital raising and investments in the Australian and Canadian resources sector, and pre-IPO opportunities in other sectors. Mr Hancock has held positions at Iscor Mining and Steel (South Africa), Hancock Prospecting (Director) and was a non-executive Director of Volta Mining (ASX:VTM) . His current not-for-profit roles include Director of Royal Flying Doctor Service (WA). Mr Hancock has over 20 year’s experience in the resources industry (iron ore), financial markets, public relations and capital raising. In his role at Hancock Prospecting Mr Hancock introduced the Hope Downs Iron Ore Project at the Global Iron Ore and Steel Conference in Berlin 1997, and went on to gain operational and marketing experience at both successive JV partners to the project- Iscor and Rio Tinto. Hope Downs now produces over 30 million tonnes of iron ore per annum with annual revenues approximately $3b. Mr Hancock has run a private fund for 15 years, with trading and investment experience in the resources sector, currencies and derivatives.

Martin Rogers | Senior Advisor

Martin Rogers (LinkedIn) is an Australian National and a recent addition to the Lind Partners team. Prior to joining Lind, for five years Mr. Rogers was the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Prima BioMed Ltd (ASX:PRR, NASDAQ:PBMD), a leading Australian biotechnology company working towards commercialising CVac ovarian cancer vaccine. During Mr. Roger’s tenure, Prima grew from AU$2 million to nearly AU$400 million market cap. Mr Rogers has experience in all aspects of financial, strategic and operational management and has raised over $100m in equity. He has been both an investor and senior executive in a private funded advisory business in the science and biotechnology sectors, where he was instrumental in significantly increasing the value of those investments. Mr Rogers also holds a number of not-for-profit roles and is on the management committee of the National Breast Cancer Foundation and a Council Member at the University of Sydney Physics Foundation and International Science School. He has previously been involved in the origination of a number of new business concepts and the establishment of internal ventures and external partnerships, including finance concept origination in the corporate banking sector for institutions such as Macquarie Bank.

The Advisory Board is not part of the investment committee and is not responsible for the ultimate decisions of the Manager.
